Info Summary

In early 2009, widespread protests took place as a result of ever increasing federal spending and rewarding failure. Bailouts with massive amounts of our tax dollars, increased deficits, and unsustainable spending risked the financial stability our country and its future. Over 1.2 million people stood  up to say “enough is enough.”

In Fort Walton Beach, Florida, our initial protest on April 15th was called the Tax Day Tea Party. We had approximately 700 people meet at the FWB Landing to share common frustrations with both political parties in our nation’s capital. The feeling that we are not being represented by anyone was prevalent. Dozens of local citizens, from mayors to the homeless, spoke to the peaceful crowd.

Since that time, a group of people dedicated to keeping the movement going have been meeting regularly to discuss important issues and plan how to grow the Tea Party.

The FWB Tea Party is always involved in some aspect of our political world. To change how things work in DC, we have taken the approach to work locally, organize our community and local governments, then help them to represent us at the state, then get everyone working together to help us change how our elected officials operate.

Our “membership” (we charge no dues to be a part of this movement) has chosen the following 6 points as our “Core Principles.” We analyze all issues in terms of these 6 principles. Any issues outside of these Core Principles are likely handled by other groups much better than the FWB Tea Party.

• Support, defend, enforce and teach the U.S. Constitution as the Supreme Law of the Land and it’s protection of the People from governmental power
• Keep taxes low to ensure economic growth and promote economic freedom for individuals
• Ensure responsible spending by government at all levels
• Always look for new ways to increase individual freedoms in all aspects of life
• Promote transparency and accountability from elected representatives at all levels of government
• Ensure individual responsibility as a cornerstone of freedom

Check out our Store for all your FWB Tea Party items. Most of the money goes to fundraise for our various activities. These items are all branded to help us spread the word among the community to help us find other concerned citizens.

To get caught up on all our previous activities, please check out our Meeting Minutes.

Our current Organizational Structure is a work in progress. We are a bottom-up, grassroots organization, so a traditional top-down hierarchical Organizational Structure isn’t particularly effective. We have a “steering committee” which meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at the American Legion. We have officers and many Team Leaders. Join a team, take action, and participate in the semi-monthly meetings and you will be a key player in the FWB Tea Party.

Our Forums will become our main online location to discuss activities, events, topics, issues, and a host of other things our group wants to discuss. We hope you will participate and have your voice heard!
