Dear Community Leader,

You have been specifically chosen by members of the Fort Walton Beach Tea Party because of your position of leadership within our community.
The Fort Walton Beach Tea Party began earlier this year in a response to continued overspending by the Federal Government. We all hoped the new administration would get our nation’s finances under control and balance the budget as a way to build a solid, sustainable nation for ourselves, our neighbors, our children and grandchildren, and millions of Americans yet to be born.

Our group has been disappointed with the continued overspending, which risks the freedom of all Americans. The massive deficits and national debt are beginning to ensure future Americans a life of economic slavery and limited decisions. Over 1,000 local citizens and millions of people nationwide have decided to take a stand to prevent this scenario from taking shape. We ask for your support in some way to always be vigilant in protecting our unique freedom as a “shining city on a hill.”

Because this “movement” is so new, it has been difficult reaching out to people directly to share what we believe in. Many in the national media have characterized us as bitter losers, Republican activists, right-wing extremists, and even terrorists. As an active member in the Fort Walton Beach Tea Party group, I can personally proclaim that we are none of these. We are simply concerned local citizens who want our governments at all levels to spend responsibly and consider the cost of current spending against the burden it will place on future generations. We want taxes to remain low to leave as much money in the local economy as possible. We want people in all positions of authority or responsibility to always take a position in support of protecting or expanding freedom. We ask elected officials to be transparent and accountable for decisions they make.
We believe strongly in the U.S. Constitution as the fundamental law of the United States, the individual rights it guarantees, and the sovereignty of the States except for the few specific powers granted to our Federal government. Finally, individual responsibility is the cornerstone of freedom and must be encouraged in every way.

The FWB Tea Party asks you for some level of support in helping us protect the freedoms of our nation’s citizens. At the very least, we hope you will take a look at us as your neighbors, friends, family, co-workers, and business partners rather than a group just stirring up anger for no reason. We also ask you to build a relationship with your local Tea Party members and reach out to them if your organization encounters any outside or national pressures to make unsound decisions. Recent examples of such pressures are the ACLU suing our local schools who allow students to practice their First Amendment Right of Free Speech at school, ACORN pressuring businesses and banks to make unsound economic decisions or carrying out widespread voter fraud, Unions attempting to force private business into giving up decision-making responsibilities then bullying those who disagree with them, or the Federal Government forcing the State of Florida to accept tax dollars in exchange for expanding unemployment payments which will have long-term budget implications here locally. We can help your organization, and will maintain confidentiality to prevent your organization’s image from becoming political in any way.

If you would like to actively support the Fort Walton Beach Tea Party, but don’t know how, we can accept donations online and in person. We can also come up with ways to benefit your organization either explicitly or anonymously, if that helps. We believe we are doing the right things for the right reason and are reaching out to build a tight community to benefit all of us for both today and the future.
